Inspiration and Adorable Clipart for Teachers

Hey there,

I was perusing TPT and came across Littlest Learners sub plans. It gave me an idea to create this for my future class but with a few graphic changes (graphics from The Pond ). If you haven't checked their graphics out I highly recommend it. As I mentioned this was not my idea :). I would highly recommend a visit to her site!! It has a lot of interesting and fun resources.

Homework Linky Party...What do you do?

What do you do for weekly homework? Have you used packets before? What kinds of activities do you assign in your packets? During student teaching I saw how beneficial they can be.

Here is what I have created. It includes a cover sheet where daily homework is indicated. There is also, a reading log and a high frequency worksheet. I will be posting it on TPT soon!!

Classroom Mascot Ideas

Hope you all are having a wonderful week!!

Do any of you have a classroom mascot? If so, what do you do?
One idea that I really like is having students take the mascot home for the week and document their adventures (maybe in a journal). Then, at the end of the week they would come and share with the class their week in pictures/writing.

Another idea is to have the student of the week take the mascot home.

Essentials, Extras, and Everyday Lessons ✎

Hi there,

What are some beginning of the year essentials that you love?

What are some extra supplies that you like to have but are not a must?

Also, what are some of your favorite ways to organize your lesson plans? One of my essentials is sticky notes (especially if they are cute). I use them all the time!!

Patience, Picture Books, and Possible Resources

Hi there!!

Hope you all are having a great week!!

Today I submitted an application for several openings  at a nearby school !! I am excited to see what happens!!

Many of you have knowledge and experience that you have gained over years of teaching. I have a lot to learn as a newbie and have a few questions.

What is/are your favorite teaching resources?

 Also, what are your two favorite picture books? I am wanting to add to my teaching and classroom library. F.Y.I. I already have Harry Wong's book.

Busy/Fun Three Days, Giveaway, and Easter!!

I have been quite busy this week subbing Monday, Tuesday and tutoring today!! I had a wonderful two full days with a great third grade class!  They were very well behaved and enjoyed the activities we completed.  I can't wait to sub for them again!!

Tutoring went so well today my student was focused and very eager to complete his activities. I introduced some new activities which he was very excited about.  One of the activities we worked on was letter recognition and matching.  I had him use magnetic letters and match them to letters on a worksheet I had made. This activity was definitely effective and a success. While matching the letters he told me "This is such a good idea".  Lets just say he made me smile :).  I absolutely love teaching!!

On another note, since it is almost Easter I wanted to ask what you all do in your classrooms around this time of year?

First Day of School Packet Giveaway!!

I have decided to have a giveaway instead of posting on TPT. The packet includes three different activities. The first activity requires students to interview a new friend. The second activity asks the student to draw a picture of their new friend. The third activity is a school scavenger worksheet. If I was doing this I would have my students introduce their friend to the class and share their picture.
